ABOUT

Marta is a Polish born figurative and portrait artist, based in London. Originaly from Czestochowa, Poland, she has moved to West London in December, 2004.

She has completed classes led by Tom Davies who she considers to be the main influence behind her passion for art of the human form. Having taken part in projects such as student exchange with Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes "San Alejandro" in Havana, Cuba (2008 & 2009), "World in London" (thanks to Marysa Dowling for London's Photographers Gallery) and several group exhibitions throughout West London, she has learned to use wide variety of media, preferring the combined use of pencil and ink for fine detail.

Her work widely explores the nearly impossible act of recording the present. With an incredible attention to detail, Marta's portraits seem to almost caption the subjects emotion.

Citing Aubrey Beardsley as one of her main inspirations, her Art Nouveau sketches steer towards the darker side of human imagination, hugely contrasting with the boldly colorful figure paintings she's created.

Having attended London College of Fashion, Marta left in winter 2009 to focus on her own projects, going on to have founded Sioigin Art Group in early 2014.
