ABOUT

Donya Elva is a BA (Hons) Undergraduate studying Photography at Canterbury Christchurch.

Having acquired a passion for photography as a young girl, she had her first chance to explore it by

making it her chosen subject during the early college years and then further that on to university.

Being one of our resident artists, Donya has a passion for Street Photography, and has a very eclectic range of styles from representational to abstract.

The digital age is rife but this photographer likes to keep it traditional using Analogue and Polaroid

cameras at any chance possible, taking her inspiration from acclaimed, traditional photographers such as Sally Mann, Diane Arbus and Dorothea Lange to name just a few.

Most recently, Donya has focused her camera on life models, exploring the world of fine art portraiture, which has resulted in a stunning set of black & white images as a part of the ‘Female’ project : ‘an avant-garde, fine art approach regarding the exploration of lust through the visualisation of an unconventional body form’.
